Are aging parents aging you? Seminar offers tips
Thursday November 13 2008

Georgetown Alliance Church presents Caring for Your Aging Parent seminar this Sunday (Nov. 16) at 6:30 p.m. at the church, 290 Main St. S., in Georgetown.
Led by a healthcare professional, this interactive forum will touch on many of the issues that adult children and their aging parent(s) will face as the parent(s) experience circumstances that lead to reduced personal independence.

Some of the topics that will be addressed throughout the evening are:
• What support is available to help my parent(s) stay in their home when they find house cleaning, cooking, and other duties difficult?
• What can we expect should mom or dad suffer a stroke or heart attack?
• How can the family begin to discuss health care issues?
• What does the discharge process look like should mom or dad be hospitalized?
• What is a Power of Attorney for Personal Care and is it important?
• How do I evaluate retirement homes or other long-term care options?

Related resource materials will also be available. There is no charge to attend.
