Three Acton artists and one from Georgetown will join eight others to share their vision of Crawford Lake and Mountsberg Conservation Areas “Through the eyes of an artist” on today (August 20) until August 24, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Watch local artists create new pieces inspired by the parks. Interact with them and learn how an artist practises his or her craft as they work in studio. Existing works by the artists will also be on display and for sale.
Crawford Lake’s featured artists include Georgetown’s Barbara Ariss, Acton’s Darla Fisher-Odjig and Jennifer Osborn.
Fisher-Odjig will lead Art from the Heart (Tiny Object Teachings T.O.T.) on August 23, 1-3 p.m. Parents will learn about their children's individuality and creativity by letting them take the lead in this workshop on found art. Children will explore the gifts of mother nature and assemble them into a beautiful piece of art to take home! No additional materials required.
On August 24, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Barbara Ariss will take children around the Crawford Lake gathering materials for a three-dimensional collage.
Then, 1-3 p.m. Acton artist Jennifer Osborn will lead Nature Mandalas— Using colour, design, pattern, and symbolism you will learn how to create something personal from the things you have found and observed around you.
Acton potter Barbara VanSickle is one of the featured artists at Mountsberg and presents Pottery for Kids, on August 24, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Children will learn to create and embellish their own pinch or coil pot to take home. No materials required. Come dressed for mess!
All workshops are $10 per person and include the price of park admission. Call to register! 905-854-0234 (Crawford) or 905-854-2276 (Mountsberg).
